New Year’s Resolution

And just like that 2019 is here and we are in full gear. Time never waits for us, we just try to make the best of the time we are given and decide how to best use it. Nothing is promised, and certainly nothing is guaranteed. In a split second, something could change the course of how we want to spend our time. However, each year we tell ourselves that it is a fresh start. A time we can make a new year’s resolution, a tradition in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life. We all see it, whether it is “sober January” or a spike of people at the gym, everyone wants to believe that 2019 will be the year that they better their lives in some way. I think it’s great, it’s an opportunity that you can either take advantage of or not, no one else can hold you accountable, only you. It tests will power, strength, and motivation. I decided to write down my thoughts to challenge you to really think about what a New Year’s Resolution means and to make one that you can be proud of when we are in the same spot and getting ready to start 2020. Don’t make a resolution that you know is unattainable or outlandish. Make one that you know will be hard but at the end of each day you will be proud of. I love the quote, “a goal is a commitment with a time line.” Commit to better yourself, believe in yourself this year and prove yourself wrong. Take each day as a blessing and an opportunity to be better than the last. My New Year’s Resolution is to be present in the small moments we take for granted and to share time with old friends I have not seen in a while. For me, it is hard to “shut it off”. A lot of the time I find myself always thinking about something else when I should be taking in priceless moments. I am going to challenge myself to really enjoy the time with my friends and family this year. Life happens and there is always a reason why I can’t see an old friend, but this year I am going to make time to reconnect with friends who have had tremendous impact on my life. Time is precious, let’s make 2019 the best year yet! I told you my New Year’s Resolution, what’s yours?

Happy New Year!
