THE PATH TO THE PODIUM
THE PATH TO THE PODIUM
Everyone needs a mentor and a leader, and GMS wants to join your team!
Through our ‘Path to the Podium’ consulting program, we will partner with you for 12-18 months through a customized series of leadership development events designed to enforce sustained growth and positive behavioral change over the course of our relationship. We will work with you to define winning for your organization, identify your current strengths and weaknesses, facilitate trainings to inspire and motivate your team, and hold you accountable to achieving every goal you set out for your organization. We know what it takes to win, and we have experienced the journey to get there - let us lead you through it, and help your team reach the podium!
The Path to the Podium will take your team through the same journey the 1980 Miracle team traveled on their journey to Gold: Recruitment, Tryouts, Pre-Season, Regular Season, Playoffs, and most importantly, the Winning Podium, and you will experience a team of all-stars transforming into an all-star team.
RECRUITMENT
“I’m not looking for the best players, I’m looking for the right players.” - Herb Brooks. Recruiting the right players for your team is the most crucial step en route to achieving your goal, as a team is only as good as the sum of its parts.

As our partnership begins, GMS will have an initial consultation with you, to formulate the strategy and flow of events for the duration of the partnership and collaborate on clearly defining your objectives. We will then challenge you to identify the roster of leaders from your organization to be involved in the programs, set timeframes for the partnership, and set parameters as to the data that will be collected and analyzed through the customized dossiers, a tool that will be utilized to provide regular insight to you as a leader. GMS will then begin the extensive preparation work involved in designing our framework for success.
TRYOUTS:
Regardless of your tenure, development is crucial at all levels of leadership. GMS will make you realize you have to earn your position and make your team every year.

Our kickoff event together will be a keynote address delivered by Jim Craig, to ignite the spirit of competition and inspire you and your organization to unlock your full potential. Jim will meet with your leadership team ahead of time to customize his message and ensure he is in alignment with the current goals and objectives of your organization and will deliver the motivation needed to move your audience to action. This event can be held virtually as needed.
The next phase will be our first Think Tank with your leadership team, where we will challenge the participants to begin building their “Winning Locker Room” and encourage them to begin shifting their mindset from that of individual to collective success. We recommend a minimum of one Think Tank each quarter for these leaders to come together, review and align all objectives, and analyze progress toward their ‘Shared Dream.’ This event can be held virtually as needed.
Enhancement option: The evening before the first Think Tank, Jim Craig will attend an executive networking event over dinner and drinks with a select group of participants. This will be a casual setting doubling as a discovery session for Jim and GMS, where we will gather additional information to inform the design of our series as we begin to understand the participants on a deeper relational level.
PRE-SEASON:
This is the first time your team will be tested against your established goals. Each player’s strengths and weaknesses will be identified and a plan will be formulated on how to pull greatness out of each and every one of them.

Following the first Think Tank, GMS will facilitate a Conference Call Series with the same leaders who were involved in the Think Tank, utilizing the Gold Medal Strategies Business Book to initiate the development within the organization and empower these leaders to define winning for themselves individually, and for their respective teams. It is essential for you as a leader to define winning for your organization at this stage, or your team will define it for themselves.
REGULAR SEASON
By this stage, your team should be comfortable with one another and be aligned on - and working toward - a shared dream. Their unwavering commitment to achieving something bigger than themselves will be revealed.

Each of the leaders involved in the first Think Tank and Conference Call Series will be empowered to facilitate a series of Virtual Transformative Leadership Trainings (VTLT) with their teams alongside GMS, focusing on topics aligned with the larger organizational objective for sustained messaging and development. The VTLT will be intermixed with quarterly Think Tanks to maintain their communication as a leadership team. Each leader will have at least two VTLT with their team between each Think Tank, curating the ‘locker room mentality’ within their respective teams.
During these trainings, we will learn as much as possible about the leaders involved and will continue building a dossier of information regarding strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, etc. aligned with the parameters defined in the initial consultation.
These trainings include preparation and debrief sessions with GMS. At the conclusion, the leader will select one ‘winner’ from the training to earn a place at the culminating development event (Two-Day Experiential Leadership Retreat).
PLAYOFFS:
During this stage, we will be revisiting the initial goals you established at the beginning of the season, to analyze progress and measure your growth. “Coming together is the beginning of a team, working together is progress, executing together is success.” This is the final stage to determine if you have what it takes to win.
+ LEARN MORE
At the conclusion of the Virtual Transformative Leadership Trainings and Think Tanks, there will be one final Think Tank. This Think Tank will begin with a brief presentation from each leader regarding their team’s development, reflection on the program’s impact, discussion of progress made toward their objective and outlined action steps for continued growth. During the second part of the Think Tank, each leader’s direct reports will join the session for cross-team communication and collaboration, to ensure alignment across all teams ahead of the culminating event.
